Platfform is the mental health and social change charity. They work with people experiencing challenges with their mental health, and with communities who want to create a greater sense of connection, ownership and wellbeing in the places they live. They were looking to produce a high-quality video that overcomes their current issues with recruitment. As part of its ongoing recruitment strategy to grow across the UK, it’s important to stand out above the crowd, demonstrate the charity’s values, and the ongoing incentive for working with them.

To begin looking at how we could tell a story that actually resonated with their target market, we first engaged in doing some extensive research in recruitment videos that really sold its culture and values, that felt real and authentic, and focused on people. There were a few really good videos that we discovered that helped visualise the style and tone that we were looking to create.

After that point, we began looking at future events and opportunities that Platfform had organised, which would present us with the unique opportunity to film some great collaboration and contributions that would demonstrate those values. Where we weren’t able to capture footage that met the criteria of the brief, we filmed several staged scenes using staff as contributors to reflect certain aspects of their jobs.

A unique aspect of this project was our intention to maintain an authentic and raw visual tone. We employed techniques such as intentional camera shake and fluctuating focus to achieve this. Even post-production included adding grain and noise to the footage, creating a look that diverges from the typical ‘polished’ corporate videos. This approach aimed to make the video feel genuine, as though capturing the organisation’s heartbeat rather than presenting a staged version of it.

The final product was met with resounding success, much to the delight of our client. We take immense pride in contributing to such an impactful project and are grateful for the opportunity to work closely with an organisation as meaningful as Platfform.
